Sugar Free Advent Calendar

I was wondering what to do ‘advent calender wise’ this year with my toddler who has just turned Two. I wasn’t all that happy giving him a chocolate one (he would easily get into the habit of a chocolate a day by Christmas day!). Didn’t want the expense of buying a little gift for each day (I already have an advent material advent snowman that this could be used for). A picture under a door seemed a little boring for our Stanley, so I came up with an alternative……

This compromise involves a sugar-free treat each day for Stanley and therefore a guilt-free count down to the big day for me :-)

Its a really simple recipe with only 2 ingredients…..natural, organic whole milk yogurt and a punnet of organic strawberries.

Firstly, wizz up some of the washed strawberries in a blender/food processor and stir through around 300ml of the yogurt. Then cut the rest of the strawberries in half and place one half, cut-side down in 24 holes of a silicone mini muffin tray or cake pop tray (or even ice cube tray). Then spoon the yogurt mixture over each strawberry.

Pop in freezer for at least 12 hours. Then push them out and wrap (to look like a sweet) with cling film. Pop them in a freezer bag in place back in the freezer, and each day during December you can fill the relevant number with ‘a sweet’. Watch this space for photos of our Stanley enjoying his!
